
Bharti Airtel Limited has announced the acquisition of a 26% equity stake in AMP Energy C&I Thirty Private Limited, a renewable energy company, for a total consideration of ₹7,85,84,000.
This acquisition involves 78,58,400 equity shares at ₹10 per share and is aimed at fulfilling regulatory requirements for captive power plants, allowing Airtel to procure cost-effective renewable energy for its operations.
AMP Energy C&I Thirty Private Limited is part of the renewable energy sector, formed to own and operate captive power plants. The acquisition is part of Bharti Airtel’s strategy to meet regulatory standards under the Electricity Act, 2003, and the Indian Electricity Rules, 2005, for renewable energy consumption. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals, including grid connectivity and open access permissions.
