Wednesday, December 31: Bharat Forge announced that it has secured a defence contract worth Rs 1,662 crore from the Ministry of Defence for the supply of Close Quarter Battle (CQB) carbines. The order has been awarded under the government’s procurement framework and will be executed over a defined delivery schedule, as per regulatory disclosures.

The contract involves the supply of indigenously manufactured CQB carbines designed for close-combat operations, strengthening the Indian armed forces’ infantry firepower. The development reinforces Bharat Forge’s growing presence in the defence manufacturing space, where the company has been expanding capabilities through its defence arm and indigenous production initiatives.

According to the company, the order aligns with the government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ objectives, aimed at reducing dependence on imports and enhancing domestic defence manufacturing. The contract adds to Bharat Forge’s existing defence order book and provides long-term revenue visibility in the segment.

Bharat Forge has been steadily increasing its exposure to defence, aerospace and strategic manufacturing, alongside its core automotive components business. The company has previously indicated its focus on scaling up defence-related revenues through orders from the Indian armed forces and exports to global markets.
