BEML Limited, a leading Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, has secured a ₹136 crore contract to supply indigenously designed High Mobility Vehicles (HMV) 8×8. These vehicles are key to the Battle Field Surveillance System (BFSS) Project, bolstering India’s defence capabilities in line with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Manufactured at BEML’s advanced facilities, the HMV 8×8 features an independent suspension system, a high-power air-cooled engine, central tyre inflation, anti-lock braking system, and a robust backbone tube chassis. Designed for reliability and versatility, these vehicles can operate in extreme climates (-20°C to +55°C) and altitudes up to 5,000 meters.

With its modular architecture, the HMV 8×8 offers easy integration of various superstructures, reducing costs and enhancing the operational efficiency of the Indian armed forces. This innovation supports BEML’s range of military vehicles, improving maintenance and logistics across different configurations (4×4 to 12×12).

Speaking on this achievement, Shri Shantanu Roy, CMD of BEML, said, “This contract is a testament to BEML’s unwavering commitment to innovation and self-reliance in defence manufacturing. The indigenously developed HMV 8×8 vehicles showcase our engineering excellence and dedication to equipping India’s armed forces with cutting-edge mobility solutions.
