BEML Limited has been awarded a contract worth ₹866.87 crore from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) for the design and manufacturing of two high-speed trainsets. Each trainset will consist of 8 cars, priced at ₹27.86 crore per car. The project also includes design costs, one-time development costs, and charges for tooling and testing facilities, which will be used for future high-speed projects in India.
The trainsets will be manufactured at BEML’s Bengaluru rail coach complex and are expected to be delivered by the end of 2026. These trains will feature modern amenities, including reclining and rotatable seats, provisions for passengers with restricted mobility, and onboard infotainment systems. With a test speed of 280 kmph, these trainsets will mark a significant milestone in India’s high-speed rail journey.
This contract further strengthens BEML’s position in the rolling stock manufacturing industry and supports India’s vision of a faster, more efficient rail network.
