BEML Limited has announced securing a major order worth Rs 157 crore for the manufacturing of Switch Rail Grinding Machines, the company informed in a regulatory filing on Thursday, December 4.
According to the filing, the order has been placed by Loram Rail Maintenance India Private Limited, and the machines will be supplied to Indian Railways for its track maintenance operations. BEML confirmed that the contract falls under its normal course of business.
The Bengaluru-based public sector undertaking stated that the order aligns with its ongoing contribution to India’s rail infrastructure and modernisation efforts. These specialised grinding machines help improve the longevity, efficiency and safety of railway tracks by smoothing and maintaining rail surfaces.
BEML’s Corporate Office, in the filing signed by Company Secretary Urmi Chaudhury, notified both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE under Regulation 30 of SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015.
This development comes at a time when Indian Railways continues to expand and upgrade its track maintenance capabilities through advanced equipment.
