Balrampur Chini Mills Limited (BCML), one of India’s largest integrated sugar companies, has expanded its nationwide sustainability outreach program Bioyug on Wheels to Ahmedabad. The event, held on August 30, 2025, at CIPET Ahmedabad, focused on bio-based innovation and circular economy solutions.

The program featured live demonstrations of 100% compostable PLA bioplastic items, expert Q&A sessions, interactive exhibits, and networking opportunities with researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. Panel discussions also explored the future of the bioeconomy in India, with speakers like Dr. S. K. Nayak, former Director General of CIPET, and Shri Paritosh Diwasali, Director of CIPET Ahmedabad, sharing insights on scaling bio-based industries and fostering skill development.

Industry experts from Deltora Biopolymers and Vision Industries also highlighted commercial applications of bio-based technologies. Shweta Suryawanshi, Sales Head of BCML’s PLA Division, said the Ahmedabad edition reflected “growing momentum for sustainable solutions within the region,” adding that Bioyug on Wheels will now move to Kochi, Kerala.

Launched in Mumbai in May 2025, the initiative has already covered Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, aiming to connect stakeholders across academia, industry, and policy. Through this journey, BCML hopes to strengthen awareness about PLA innovation and accelerate India’s shift toward a circular economy.
