Azad Engineering has inaugurated a new lean manufacturing facility at its Centre of Excellence and Innovation Centre in Tunikibollaram, Hyderabad. The facility, covering 7,600 square meters, will support capacity commitments to GE Vernova’s Steam Power Services business unit.
The inauguration was attended by GE Vernova representatives including Rodolfo Torres (Lean Leader), Ankur Chandak (Sourcing Leader), Martin Schaefer (Global Commodity Leader), Akhona Qabaka (Supplier Quality Leader), Carly Lorence (Global Planning Lean Leader), and Azad Engineering’s Chairman and CEO, Rakesh Chopdar.
Established to meet global quality and supply standards, the facility is part of Azad’s long-term strategy to enhance manufacturing capabilities for power generation components. The company has invested in advanced machinery, vertical integration, and workforce development to meet precise technical requirements.
The new facility is built on years of engineering experience and qualification processes since the company began its manufacturing journey in 2013. It features technology for producing high-precision components with micron-level tolerances and integrates lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
Currently, over 180 skilled professionals are employed at the facility, with future plans to expand the workforce significantly. This development also contributes to strengthening India’s presence in the global precision manufacturing sector.
The project broke ground on April 24, 2024, and marks a significant step in Azad Engineering’s efforts to support international OEMs across the energy, aerospace, defence, and oil & gas industries.
This facility is expected to play a critical role in delivering high-quality components within demanding timelines and specifications, aligning with the global shift toward efficient and scalable manufacturing practices.
