Ashok Leyland has achieved a significant milestone in the electric vehicle space. Its subsidiary, OHM Global Mobility, has successfully bagged an order for 500 ultra-low floor electric buses from the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC), Chennai. This marks a major step forward in Chennai’s journey toward sustainable public transportation.
As Ashok Leyland’s electric mobility arm, OHM Global Mobility focuses on the Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) business model. This new contract from MTC will further solidify Ashok Leyland’s dominant position in the public transport sector, while also reinforcing the company’s commitment to driving sustainable urban mobility solutions across India.
Under this agreement, Switch Mobility, another subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, will deliver the advanced EiV12 electric buses. OHM will operate and maintain these buses over the course of 12 years, ensuring long-term support for Chennai’s public transport network.
