The Andhra Pradesh government has granted a composite license to Hindustan Zinc Ltd for a tungsten and associated mineral block located in Balepalyam village, Kanaganapalle mandal, in the Sri Sathyasai district, according to an official order issued by the Industries and Commerce Department on Monday.

The composite license covers an area of 308.3 hectares, allowing the company to explore and develop tungsten and related minerals in the region.

The official order stated, “Government hereby grants composite license for tungsten and associated mineral block, over an extent of 308.3 hectares, in favour of Hindustan Zinc Ltd.”

Tungsten, known for its high melting point and strength, is a strategic mineral used across industries including defence, electronics, aerospace, and energy. The move is expected to support India’s goal of boosting domestic mineral exploration and reducing dependency on imports.

The state government said the license was issued following due process and recommendations from the Geological and Mining departments.
