Alkem Foundation, the CSR arm of Alkem Laboratories Ltd, has announced a strategic collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay to establish a first-of-its-kind research centre in India focused on immuno-therapeutics and regenerative medicines.

According to the exchange filing, the Alkem Centre for Advanced Research and Development of Applied Immuno-Therapeutics and Regenerative Medicines will be set up on the IIT Bombay campus. The initiative marks India’s first industry–academia collaboration in this field executed through the CSR route.

Under the partnership, Alkem Foundation will contribute 20–25% of its cumulative CSR spending over seven years to develop this state-of-the-art centre. The facility will support research across emerging areas such as gene editing, biosciences, biomaterials, precision medicines, and cell- and gene-therapy platforms.

The centre will also serve as a hub to train clinician-scientists and biotech entrepreneurs, fostering a pipeline of future innovators in life sciences. Mentors from IIT Bombay, Alkem, and international experts will guide research programmes.

Madhurima Singh, Executive Director and Chairperson of Alkem’s CSR Committee, said the initiative underscores the company’s responsibility to support medical innovation in underserved therapy areas. IIT Bombay Director Prof. Shireesh B. Kedare noted that the collaboration strengthens India’s pathway towards self-reliance in cutting-edge healthcare solutions.

The collaboration aims to position India as a global leader in applied biotechnology and affordable high-impact healthcare innovations.
