Motherson, through its joint venture Samvardhana Motherson Hamakyorex Engineered Logistics Limited (SAMRX), has entered into an agreement with Dighi Port Limited (DPL), a subsidiary of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ), to build a dedicated automobile export facility at Dighi Port in Maharashtra.
The collaboration is designed to position Dighi Port as a new automobile export terminal for OEMs operating across the Mumbai–Pune auto belt.

The project aligns with APSEZ’s broader plan to upgrade Dighi as one of its 15 strategic ports, enhancing its role in supporting India’s automotive sector under the Make in India framework. The new RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) terminal will be set up to handle finished vehicle logistics and offer integrated, end-to-end solutions for exporters.

SAMRX will invest in developing the terminal infrastructure and will integrate its services to offer real-time vehicle visibility and streamlined cargo movement for OEMs. The facility is expected to improve operational efficiency for automotive shipments, both for exports and imports.

The proposed RoRo terminal will include features such as single-window operations—from yard management and PDI to storage, charging, and vessel loading—along with AI-based yard optimisation and real-time vehicle traceability. The location provides one of the quickest evacuation routes from Maharashtra’s auto hub via NH-66. A 1.3-km RoRo-ready jetty with sheltered waters is planned to ensure uninterrupted, all-weather movement. The terminal will also be equipped to support electric vehicle logistics and OEM-integrated dashboards for load planning.

Dighi Port, located on the west coast, serves Maharashtra’s industrial corridors and offers warehousing, tank farms, open stockyards, and direct berthing facilities. The port currently handles oil, chemical, container, and bulk cargo, and its move into RoRo operations supports APSEZ’s vision of building integrated, future-ready logistics hubs.
With this addition, APSEZ aims to strengthen its national logistics footprint while improving trade connectivity for domestic and global partners.
