ACME Solar Holdings Limited has received a major regulatory boost after its subsidiary, ACME Aklera Power Technology Private Limited, secured a compensation award of about ₹47.40 crore from the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC). This ruling comes under the change-in-law mechanism and is expected to improve the financial profile of the company’s 250 MW solar project contracted with SECI.

With this decision, the project is likely to see an additional revenue benefit of nearly 3.5% over the next 15 years. The order not only supports ACME’s long-term cash flows but also sets an important precedent for regulatory predictability within India’s renewable energy sector.

The approved compensation covers the additional burden arising from the imposition of basic customs duty on solar modules and cells, the GST increase from 5% to 12%, and the related carrying cost. The total amount will be disbursed through an annuity mechanism at a 9% discount rate spread across 15 years, ensuring that the company recovers these unforeseen cost escalations without affecting the project’s economics.
