Bharat Petroleum Corporation has announced the successful commissioning of its Second-Generation (2G) at . The facility is designed to produce 100 kilolitres per day of fuel-grade bioethanol from rice straw, utilising advanced lignocellulosic technology, pretreatment, and fermentation processes.

The refinery is built as a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) plant, featuring solid-liquid separation to ensure efficient resource utilisation and environmental stewardship. This development aligns with India’s E20 Ethanol Blending Programme and the National Biofuels Policy, contributing to emission reductions and promoting a circular economy.

The project was executed with a strong focus on safety, achieving approximately 20 million manhours without any Lost Time Accidents (LTA), showcasing exceptional teamwork and engineering excellence.
