Semiconductor maker and Apple supplier Skyworks Solutions has reportedly held talks to acquire its rival Qorvo, according to a report by The Information citing people familiar with the matter.
It remains unclear whether the two companies have reached an agreement on the sale, though Qorvo’s market capitalization currently exceeds $8 billion, the report added.
Skyworks Solutions manufactures analog and mixed-signal semiconductors used across smartphones, tablets, automotive systems, aerospace, and broadband infrastructure. Meanwhile, Qorvo, established in 2015 through the merger of TriQuint Semiconductor and RF Micro Devices (RFMD), specializes in radio frequency (RF) chips — a key component in wireless communication devices.
If completed, the deal could mark one of the most significant mergers in the semiconductor industry this year, consolidating two major players in the RF chip market that cater to leading global tech firms.
