Amazon India-based sellers exports $1 billion worth of products worldwide. Products worth $ 1 billion have been exported from the country through the Amazon e-commerce market. As local traders have benefited from their global sales program to engage with customers from outside nation.
In the midst of COVID-19 the lockdown has compelled people throughout the world to remain at home and has resulted in increased sales of e-commerce along all categories.
As a result , the total exports of online retailers from the country have crossed the $2 billion mark. Since the launch of its program in 2015. Amazon has set a target of $10 billion in exports from India within few years.
“Over the last three-four months, when the market has been adjusting to lockdowns and supply chain disturbances, we’ve seen thousands of these small companies sell internationally to consumers,” stated by Gopal Pillai, Vice President of Amazon India’s Seller Services.
“It took the program three years to reach $1 billion in cumulative exports, and it increased by 100 per cent to touch the next $1 billion in less than 18 months to crack the $2 billion mark in cumulative exports from India,” said Amit Agarwal, senior vice president and head of administration, Amazon India, at the launch of the
third edition of Amazon Exports Digest on Monday.
Amazon India Recovers Domestic Sellers
Agarwal stated “ micro, small and medium-sized enterprises ( SMEs) are the bedrock of the Indian economy. And by digitizing them, the organization is contributing to improve exports and employment generation. That will fuel the country’s inclusive economic development.
Small and medium-sized companies account for more than 28 percent of gross domestic product ( GDP). More than 40 percent of exports and hire about 111 million citizens. The project plans to increase the commitment of small. And medium-sized enterprises to 50 % of GDP. Boosting their export share to 60% and create 50 million new jobs over 5 years.
“I will ask you, if possible, to consider a solution for small and medium-sized businesses, through your foreign reach, if you would prepare product creation and offer fresh insight, knowledge, product growth to all (private) businessmen, as to what options global corporations want. It’s a win-win scenario. It will increase your turnover and help India’s economy, “Gadkari stated that at the Amazon event.
Nitin Gadkari also asked Amazon India to help small businesses market their goods overseas.
Moreover, the global selling program of Amazon enables Indian tradesmen to sell in 200 countries. Including the United States , the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
Almost 60,000 vendors export Amazon ‘s worldwide platforms from India out of its 600,000 trading base.
