As the seattle-based e-commerce behemoth, Amazon has been under persistent pressure to take action against the phony listings on its website, informs that it has blocked more than 10 billion dubious phony listings before any of their commodities/offerings could be sold out there.
Amazon also said that the number of counterfeiters endeavoring to sell their offerings on their website were only willing to take advantage of the buyers who were in a compulsion to buy online products during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Well, the e-commmerce behemoth has been struggling with the counterfeiters for years. But in 2019, the year when it devised new tools and technologiesin order to deal with the counterfeiters, it warned the investors in government filings not to encourage the sale of phony goods & services as it ruins the image of the company. Additionally, brands will also resist to sell their items on Amazon if they get to know that their are fake or phony versions being offered on the website.
Further adding, Amazon says that sale of phony goods/services will make the buyers lose faith in the company.
The company further clarifies that the machine-learning technology automatically scans listings in order to filter out the phony listings.
Though, in addition to this, Amazon also procures the brands a way to wipe out the fake versions of their products rather than wait for the specific action to be taken against them.
The lawmakers were already looking for attempts to filter out the counterfeiters online and, as a result, Amazon has come up with the endeavors to combat the same.
