Alibaba Group Holding Ltd has officially entered the fast-growing AI wearables market with the launch of its Quark AI glasses in China on Thursday. Priced at ¥1,899 (approximately $268), the device positions Alibaba directly against global competitors like Meta, which has been leading innovation in the AI-powered smart glasses segment.
The new eyewear is powered by Alibaba’s Qwen AI model, enabling real-time information assistance, content generation, and multimodal interaction. The company said the glasses will feature deep integration with its flagship ecosystem, including Alipay, Taobao, and other Alibaba services, allowing users to perform tasks such as payments, search, shopping assistance, and on-the-go AI queries.
The move marks Alibaba’s renewed push into consumer-facing artificial intelligence after years of trailing global rivals in hardware-led AI adoption. With the Quark AI glasses, the company aims to strengthen its footprint in the next wave of personal AI devices.
