Telecom giant Bharti Airtel is planning to shut down its music streaming service, Wynk Music, in the coming months. Launched in 2014, Wynk Music allowed users to download music for offline listening, set caller tunes, and stream content in multiple regional languages. However, the company has decided to exit the music streaming business and reassign all Wynk Music employees to different roles within Airtel.

An Airtel spokesperson reportedly confirmed MoneyControl that the shutdown is imminent, with all affected employees being absorbed into other divisions within the company.

As part of its new strategy, Airtel is enhancing its entertainment offerings through an exclusive partnership with Apple. Airtel Xstream customers will soon have access to Apple TV+ and Apple Music as part of their premium Wi-Fi and postpaid plans at no extra cost. This partnership will allow Airtel users to enjoy a wide range of content, including top Hollywood movies and award-winning shows on Apple TV+, as well as a vast selection of music on Apple Music.

Wynk Premium users will also receive special offers for Apple Music subscriptions as part of this transition. This move marks a significant shift in Airtel’s approach to delivering entertainment content to its customers in India.
