On 18 July, Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) declared that it will relocate its head office from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. Some days back, management of Mumbai International Airport shifteed from GVK group to Adani. Besides this, the company also announced key leadership changes.
In a press release AAHL stated, “As we look to consolidate and pursue aggressive growth of the Adani Group in the Airports sector, it has been decided to relocate the Head office of AAHL from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.”
AAHL further added, “We believe this decision will foster collaborative working and agile decision making, which is of paramount importance at this stage of journey.”
In addition, the company disclosed that RK Jain, CEO of MIAL will takeover as the CEO Airports replacing Behnad Zandi, who is appointed to take over as CEO of AAHL’s non-aero unit.
The other organizational changes include the replacement of MIAL’s CEO from RK Jain to Prakash Tulsiani, AAHL’s president operations. APSEZ’s Director Ports, Captain BVJK Sharma will take the charge as the CEO of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIAL) from RK Jain.
Dr. Malay Mahadevia, AAHL’s CEO further declared the appointments of Prabhat Mahapatra, BG Gandhi, Manoj Katar, Nirav Shah, Rekha Nair and Vishnu Jha.
As per reports, it is expected that the construction of Navi Mumbai International Airport will began in the coming month by AAHL. The new international airport is to be commissioned in 2024.
Earlier in this year, AAHL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprise obtained a 23.5 per cent stake in the Mumbai International Airport from the ACSA Global and Bid Services Division (Mauritius) for nearly Rs 1,685.25 crore. This stake acquisition was a part of Adani Group’s target to gain controlling stake in the MIAL.
Reportedly, Adani Group has earned the permission to operate the airports of Lucknow, Jaipur, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru through public private partnership model.
