Tragedy strikes Zolochiv: Russian missile attack claims life of two-month-old baby

A two-month-old infant was killed when a Russian missile struck Zolochiv in northeastern Ukraine. The mother of the infant was one of the three injured women. Concerns are raised about how increasing violence may affect civilians.

The village of Zolochiv in the Kharkiv region of northeastern Ukraine was struck by a Russian missile, resulting in the death of a two-month-old baby. The commander of the military administration in Kharkiv, Oleh Synehubov, verified the news, stating that Russian soldiers attacked a three-story hotel in the village.

In a statement posted on Telegram, Synehubov said that rescuers put out great effort to pull the baby’s body from the debris left behind by the missile hit. The terrible event is an alarming indication of the human cost imposed by the ongoing hostilities in the area.

Three women, aged 21, 28, and 39, were hospitalised as a result of the missile hit; they were all injured by shrapnel and explosion injuries. The mother of the deceased two-month-old is among the injured. The degree of the victims’ injuries is still being fully determined, and they are currently receiving medical care.

Further information from Synehubov revealed that the strike was executed by the Russian military at night, using two S-300 missiles to hit the hotel in Zolochiv. The deployment of such formidable military hardware has sparked worries about the region’s growing violence and how it may affect civilian populations.
