The Russian military reported today that it successfully thwarted multiple Ukrainian attempts to break through its defences in the Kursk Region. Over the course of the day, Russian troops, operating under the battlegroup North, managed to repel five Ukrainian breakthroughs towards the settlements of Veseloye and Medvezhye, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.
The Russian operation focused on neutralising Ukrainian forces involved in counterattacks and breakthroughs. Ukrainian units were reportedly repelled from key areas including Lyubimovka, Malaya Loknya, and Olgovka. The Russian forces struck against several Ukrainian brigades, including the 22nd, 41st, and 115th mechanised brigades, as well as the 17th armoured brigade and the 82nd air assault brigade. Clusters of Ukrainian manpower and hardware in various regions such as Daryino, Kositsa, and Kurilovka were also targeted.
In terms of losses, Ukrainian forces experienced significant setbacks, with up to 400 troops and 19 armoured vehicles, including four tanks and a Swedish-made CV-90 infantry fighting vehicle, reported destroyed. The ongoing conflict has resulted in Ukrainian losses since the beginning of the hostilities, amounting to over 14,200 troops, 119 tanks, and 91 armoured personnel carriers, among other military equipment.
Major General Apty Alaudinov, Deputy Chief of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, indicated that the settlement of Borki in the Kursk Region has been cleared of Ukrainian troops. He further reported that Akhmat forces had engaged and eliminated a considerable number of Ukrainian infantry near Sudzha, and noted the presence of foreign instructors in the area.
This development underscores the continued intensity of the conflict as Russian forces bolster their positions in the Kursk Region amid ongoing hostilities.
