Russia warns of retaliatory strikes amid NATO tensions

Volodin expressed concerns that these discussions indicate a significant involvement of NATO, given that the alliance’s satellite clusters would play a role in targeting and command execution.

Russia has issued a stern warning about potential retaliation if its cities face deep strikes, as stated by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin. Speaking ahead of the fall session of parliament, Volodin highlighted the growing tensions with NATO and the U.S., suggesting that discussions in the U.S. about possible strikes on Russian territory could escalate into severe consequences.

Volodin expressed concerns that these discussions indicate a significant involvement of NATO, given that the alliance’s satellite clusters would play a role in targeting and command execution. He cautioned that such actions would not be taken lightly and underscored that Russia is prepared to deploy more powerful weapons in response.

The Duma Speaker emphasised the gravity of the situation, urging the parliaments of the U.S. and European countries to recognise the potential for catastrophic outcomes. He voiced frustration over what he perceives as reckless provocations from current Western leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and French President Emmanuel Macron. Volodin suggested that these leaders, who he claims have lost political support at home, risk igniting a conflict with irreversible effects.

Volodin reassured that Russian President Vladimir Putin is actively working to avert a nuclear disaster and prevent a broader conflict that could escalate into a world war. He called on European politicians to consider the serious implications of their leaders’ actions and the risks they pose to global stability.

As geopolitical tensions mount, the international community watches closely to see if diplomatic efforts can de-escalate the situation and avoid further conflict.
