On the occasion of India’s Independence Day, Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed the deep and enduring ties between Moscow and New Delhi, highlighting the “particularly privileged strategic partnership” that the two nations share. In a statement issued to mark the 78th anniversary of India’s independence, Putin emphasized Russia’s commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relationship.

“Moscow attaches great importance to the relations of a particularly privileged strategic partnership with New Delhi,” President Putin said in his message. He underscored that the historical bond between Russia and India has been built on mutual respect, shared interests, and a long history of cooperation across various fields, including defense, energy, space exploration, and trade.

Putin also noted the importance of continued collaboration in the current global geopolitical climate, where the strategic partnership between Russia and India plays a crucial role in maintaining regional and international stability.  He added that Moscow intends to further develop ties with India, building on the strong foundation of trust and friendship that has been established over decades.

The Russian president’s statement comes at a time when both nations are navigating a complex international environment, with shifting alliances and emerging challenges. Despite these dynamics, the Russia-India partnership has remained resilient, driven by shared goals and a commitment to supporting each other on the global stage.

Indian officials welcomed Putin’s remarks, reiterating India’s own commitment to deepening ties with Russia. “The relationship between our two nations has stood the test of time, and we look forward to continuing our cooperation in areas of mutual interest,” said a senior official from the Ministry of External Affairs.

The exchange of messages on India’s Independence Day highlights the enduring significance of the Russia-India partnership. As both countries continue to work together on a range of strategic issues, the relationship is expected to grow even stronger, contributing to global peace and development.
