On August 23, Kemerovo will mark one of its most cherished traditions, Miner’s Day, with a vibrant array of events across the city. Organized by the local authorities, the festivities will unfold at over ten locations, with the central celebration taking place at Moscow Square.
The day’s events commence at 16:00, featuring a range of activities designed to honor the miners. Moscow Square will host the “Strong in Spirit” festival, which will include a project on mining professions, an exhibition of retro cars and motorcycles, master classes, souvenir kiosks, and quests. This will be followed by a parade of miners from the Northern Kuzbass agglomeration, scheduled from 16:00 to 17:00. The evening will offer a rich lineup of performances, starting with a local concert and awards ceremony from 17:00 to 17:30, followed by a demonstration by the Swifts aerobatic team from 17:30 to 17:50. The entertainment will continue with performances by Kemerovo’s creative groups from 17:50 to 19:20, and a festive concert by cover bands “Viking” and “Poltishok” from 19:20 to 21:00. The headliner, the band “Lyube,” will perform from 21:00 to 22:00, concluding with fireworks from 22:00 to 22:10.
The celebrations, traditionally held on the last Sunday of August, are being observed earlier this year to allow residents to enjoy the festivities with family and friends over the weekend. The city administration has emphasized that the best vantage points for viewing the air show, starting at 17:30, will be Moscow Square, the parking lot near the Laplandia shopping center, Magnit, the new Tom embankment, and near the Kuzbass sign on the right bank.
No ground tours of fighter jets will be available this year, as per recent changes in regulations. The air show will feature a 25-minute display of aerobatic maneuvers, including formations such as pyramid and arrow.
