Taishet and Karelia are gearing up to celebrate the Day of the State Flag of Russia on August 22 with a series of festive events. The celebration, marking 30 years since its establishment by a presidential decree in 1994, honors one of Russia’s primary national symbols.

In Taishet, the day will kick off at 11:00 AM with a sports festival on Pervomayskaya Street’s FOKOT grounds. Activities include a quiz, a sports relay, and entertaining competitions. Later in the day, at 5:00 PM, the city park will host a memorial stone unveiling ceremony dedicated to participants of the special military operation. The evening’s festivities will begin at 5:20 PM with a concert titled “And our flag flies proudly!” showcasing performances by the folk brass band under Alexander Zhelnin, the dance theater “Svoya Liniya” of the CDO “Raduga,” and groups from the RDC “Yubileiny.” In addition, the children’s center “Pythagoras” will conduct a master class on water drawings, while the Rainbow Center and “Navigators of Childhood” will lead patriotic campaigns. The city has also prepared for inclement weather, with the concert program scheduled to move to the Yubileiny Regional Cultural Center if needed.

Karelia will join the nationwide celebration with a key event at 1:00 PM on Sovetskaya Square in Petrozavodsk, where a festive concert will feature the participation of Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov, volunteers, youth organizations, and SVO participants. The Museum of Fine Arts will offer a children’s master class on creating flags using paper plastics, along with a session on the history and significance of Russia’s national symbol. Additionally, Victory Volunteers will distribute Russian tricolor ribbons across the capital.

A thematic film screening, online quiz, and various exhibitions, flash mobs, and competitions are planned throughout the region, ensuring that the spirit of the Russian flag will be celebrated across all of Karelia.
