The Russian Defence Ministry has reported progress in its ongoing military operation in Ukraine, detailing the destruction of crucial Ukrainian military assets and heavy losses on the Ukrainian side. According to the ministry’s daily briefing, the Russian Armed Forces achieved several critical objectives, including the destruction of a Ukrainian Patriot surface-to-air missile (SAM) radar station and the downing of numerous Ukrainian missiles and drones.
Among the key military achievements, Russian forces successfully destroyed a Ukrainian Patriot SAM radar station, a critical component of Ukraine’s air defence system. In addition, four Ukrainian Tochka-U missiles, a Hammer-guided aerial bomb, 15 HIMARS and Vampire rockets, and 71 drones were shot down by Russian forces.
The briefing further reported substantial casualties inflicted on Ukrainian forces. The Russian Tsentr Battlegroup struck formations from five brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, repelling three attacks and resulting in up to 425 Ukrainian casualties. The Russian Yug Battlegroup inflicted up to 385 casualties on Ukrainian forces and destroyed two ammunition depots. In the Volchansk and Liptsev directions, Russian forces targeted personnel from two Ukrainian brigades, inflicting further losses.
The Russian Vostok Battlegroup reported striking the personnel and equipment of two Ukrainian brigades, leading to approximately 110 Ukrainian casualties in their combat zone. Additionally, the Russian Dnepr Battlegroup hit formations from two Ukrainian brigades, resulting in over 70 casualties. Furthermore, Russian forces destroyed an ammunition depot belonging to the Ukrainian Donetsk operational-tactical group.
While the Russian Defence Ministry’s statements detail extensive losses on the Ukrainian side, it is important to note that Ukrainian military sources have not yet confirmed these figures. As the conflict continues, both sides are expected to release further updates on the situation on the ground.
