Russian attacks claim four lives, injure 11 in Ukraine’s Donetsk region

The deadliest strike occurred in the town of Kostiantynivka, located west of Bakhmut, a focal point of intense conflict in recent months.

At least four people lost their lives, and 11 others sustained injuries following a series of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s embattled eastern Donetsk region, according to Vadym Filashkin, the local governor. The attacks, which targeted residential and urban areas, have once again highlighted the ongoing devastation in this war-torn region.

The deadliest strike occurred in the town of Kostiantynivka, located west of Bakhmut, a focal point of intense conflict in recent months. Shelling hit a residential district, resulting in the deaths of two civilians. The attack caused significant damage to homes, leaving residents in shock and despair as rescue teams combed through the debris in search of survivors.

In a separate assault, two more people were killed and 11 others injured in Selydove, a town situated southwest of Kostiantynivka. The attack there was particularly destructive, with multiple apartment blocks and administrative buildings suffering extensive damage. Local authorities fear that the casualty count may rise as emergency services continue their operations in the affected areas.

Governor Filashkin condemned the attacks, labeling them as “indiscriminate and brutal” acts of aggression against civilians. “These are not just numbers; these are lives lost, families torn apart, and communities devastated,” he said in a statement. He further called on the international community to intensify pressure on Russia to halt its military campaign and engage in meaningful peace talks.

The Donetsk region, a key battleground in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, has seen relentless shelling and missile strikes in recent months, leading to a growing humanitarian crisis. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the violence shows no signs of abating, leaving civilians in a constant state of fear and uncertainty.

As the situation in Donetsk continues to deteriorate, the Ukrainian government has vowed to provide support to the victims and rebuild the shattered communities. However, with the conflict dragging on, the road to recovery remains fraught with challenges.
