In a significant development along the Russia-Ukraine border, the town of Shebekino and four adjacent villages in the Belgorod Region of Russia have been left without power following a reported drone attack from Ukrainian territory. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed the incident, stating that the assault resulted in power outages but thankfully caused no casualties.
According to Governor Gladkov’s statement on Telegram, the Ukrainian drone strike targeted Shebekino, causing damage to crucial power infrastructure including power lines. As a consequence, residents of Shebekino, as well as those in the villages of Grafovka, Bezlyudovka, Maslova Pristan, and Novaya Tavolzhanka, are currently without electricity.
The governor assured swift action in response to the emergency, with plans underway to deploy emergency teams to restore power to the affected areas promptly. The situation along the border has remained volatile, with periodic flare-ups of violence exacerbating already strained relations between the two countries.
The reported drone attack and resulting power outage serve as a stark reminder of the fragile security situation in the region, with both sides maintaining a state of heightened alertness amidst ongoing territorial disputes and geopolitical tensions.
