Amidst the coronavirus hues, the cricket fans in United Kingdom rejoice as Channel 4 will telecast Test cricket on free-to-air television. All the four Tests will be live telecasted and the highlights too for those who can not make it at 4 am.

Ian Katz, Channel 4’s Chief Content Officer, said: “This is fantastic news for all cricket fans in the UK. It’s been a long 16-year wait for the return of live Test cricket to free to air television but it couldn’t have come at a better time.

This is for the first time Test cricket will be live on free-to-air television since England’s historic Ashes in 2005.

Katz added, “what better antidote to the lockdown blues than an England Test series in sunny India.”

Pete Andrews, Channel 4’s Head of Sport and Head of Sports Rights Penny Mills initiated the negotiations and secured the deal.

Pete said: “We’re delighted to be showing live Test cricket on Channel 4 again and given the recent performances of both sides this series is poised to be a cracker. We’re absolutely thrilled to have struck this deal with Star Sports.”

Joe Root’s England will face Virat Kohli’s flamboyant India in four Tests starting on February 5. Despite losing their star cricketers to injuries, Ajinkya Rahane led India to a 2-1 series win including their remarkable win at Gabba ending Australia’s 32 years’ unbeaten streak.
