Three Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members were marshalled out of Rajya Sabha on Wednesday after Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu asked them to withdraw as they trooped into the well of the house raising slogans against the new farm laws.
The three members of the Parliament Sanjay Singh, Sushil Kumar Gupta and N.D. Gupta had been asked to remain absent from the House for the remaining part of the day. Following Rule 255 (withdrawal of member), Naidu asked the three members to withdraw from the House.
The chairman adjourned the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) proceedings briefly till 9.40 am.
“Don’t test my patience I will have to name you and be compelled to use rule 255 on you for the remainder of day suspension,” said Naidu before suspending the 3 AAP MPs. Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu continues, “Members should desist from such unwarranted activities inside the chamber. Such unauthorised recording of proceedings of House and its circulation on social media may lead to a breach of privilege and contempt of the house.”
“Government and opposition parties in Rajya Sabha reach on consensus to allocate more time to discuss the motion of thanks and parties can raise their issues on farmers’ protest during the discussion,” he added.
After suspension from Rajya Sabha for raising slogans against the new farm laws in the House, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh compared the Central government with ‘Hitler’ and accused the government of taking harsh action against the protesting farmers.
The AAP leader reported to ANI, “The government is taking such harsh action against the protesting farmers that even Hitler has failed in front of the Centre government.” We expressed our dissent in the house, we want a repeal of three farm laws because talks won’t help.
