Adelaide Strikers moved up to the third spot after defeating Sydney Thunder by a smooth margin of 6 runs. Sydney Thunder could have been the second team to secure their spot in the playoffs if they have won the match but with loss, they slipped down to number 4. For a while, it seems reality that Thunder could make it to the playoffs but an effective comeback from the Strikers ripped the dreams of Thunder.
Adelaide Strikers scored 159/7 in their given quota of 20 overs and survived to defend that total. Travis Head and Philip Salt scored 31-runs each and helped Strikers to get a total that survived in front of the opposition.
Sydney Thunders tried their best during the last ball of the match but couldn’t get over the par score as they finished with 153/7 in their 20 overs. Michael Neser and Peter Siddle played a crucial role and both picked up 2-2 wickets. Thunder’s batsmen were a little inconfident while chasing down 160-runs. As result, only Usman Khawaja scored the thirties. He played the knock of 36 runs that couldn’t help the team to win the match and get into the playoffs of the tournament.
