After having recently taken to Facebook in the criticism of many TMC leaders and alleging nepotism in the party, Rajib Banerjee, Senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader, and West Bengal’s (now) ex-Forest Minister resigned from his post today.

Addressing his letter to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he wrote – “It has been a great honour and privilege to serve the people of West Bengal. I heartily convey my gratitude for getting this opportunity.”

This happening comes into the news only a few months before the state assembly elections and not quite unexpectedly as many other TMC leaders have resigned in the recent weeks. The resigning of a member from the cabinet of West Bengal Legislative Assembly will likely be a very strong blow to the Mamata Government and its campaign for the upcoming State Assembly Elections.

Recently, Suvendu Adhikari, who quit TMC, joined Bhartiya Janta Party after resigning from his post of Transport Minister of West Bengal
