New Zealand has been dominant at home throughout the season. No team could match the level of cricket played by New Zealand.
The second test between New Zealand and Pakistan is underway as the third day too goes as per New Zealand’s plan. Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls came out to bat on Day 3 as they were 11 runs short of getting the first innings lead. Williamson was at 112 while his partner Henry Nicholls was at 89. The duo continued from where they left on Day 2 as they weren’t giving any opportunity to the Pakistani bowlers. Henry Nicholls got to his 7th test ton while Williamson was nearing his 150.
The duo went on to unleash the pain to Pakistani bowlers as they weren’t giving any chance at all. Williamson went on to score another test 200 as he continues to prove why he is the No. 1 test batsman. Henry Nicholls too was unstoppable as he bought his 150 in no time. Finally the partnership was broken by Mohammad Abbas who got Nicholls at 157. The duo of Williamson and Nicholls added 369 runs for the 4th wicket. BJ Watling came in to bat but couldn’t do much as he was back in the pavilion soon. Daryll Mitchell along with his skipper added more misery to Pakistani bowlers as he too was smashing the ball all over the park. Pakistan had something to celebrate between this as they got Williamson’s wicket soon as he was dismissed by Faheem Ashraf on 238. Entire Pakistan team congratulated him while he was walking back to the pavilion. The entire audience gave him a standing ovation for this wonderful knock. Daryll Mitchell continued his innings as he was nearing his maiden ton in test cricket. Williamson was looking to declare the innings but postponed it to get Mitchell to his first ton. Jamieson provided good support as he was striking the ball well. Mitchell got to his ton in 112 deliveries and Williamson declared the innings at 659. Mitchell remained not out at 102 while Jamieson played a decent hand of 30 off just 22 deliveries.
Nothing much for the Pakistani bowlers in this innings as only 6 wickets fell throughout the innings. Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Abbas and Faheem Ashraf each picked 2 wickets as the bowlers had a long day out in the field.
Pakistan came in to bat late in the day as about 13 overs of play was remaining. Openers Shan Masood and Abid Ali came into bat to survive the day. The duo tried to survive the Kiwi pacers and we’re successful till some extent but just few overs before the stumps, Shan Masood fell to Jamieson.
Pakistan were forced to send in a night watchman to bat as they couldn’t afford losing any other batsmen in the day. Abbas and Ali survived the day and Pakistan came back with 8 runs for loss of 1 wicket. New Zealand lead by 354 runs now as they eye for another test win.
It was easily once again New Zealand’s day as they outplayed Pakistan in every department.
