After France’s 1-0 victory over Portugal in a UEFA Nations League group stage tie on Sunday, French midfielder Paul Pogba spoke to RTL, discussing France’s ambitions for the Euros next year and also spoke about his current situation at English club Manchester United.
Speaking about France at the Euros next year, Pogba said “Our aim is to win the Euros. We want to win, it is meaningless if we cannot go all the way. We need to continue on what we did at the World Cup.”
Regarding his situation at Manchester United, he said “This is a period, the kind of which I have never experienced in my career. The French national team is a breath of fresh air… We are very happy to come here and all very happy to see each other again. It is not the same as with the club… We all group together, it is magical. We realise that everyone is happy to come and that makes a difference.”
Pogba has not had the best start for Manchester United this season, mainly giving away penalties in crucial games against Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, showing a lack of awareness.
Questions have always been raised regarding Pogba’s commitment at Manchester United and his recent comments emphasize the issue even more, comparing his mood at the club in comparison to the National team.
France play Sweden later this week on November 18 in a UEFA Nations League group stage tie.
