Metal sector stocks were broadly under pressure on Indian exchanges on April 24, 2026, with most counters trading in the red during early morning trade. The broader market also declined, with the S&P BSE Sensex down 0.94% at 76,937.27 and the Nifty 50 lower by 0.86% at 23,965.40.

Stocks in the Red

The majority of metal sector stocks were trading with losses as of 10:34 AM IST.

NALCO was the biggest loser among the pack, falling 2.28% on BSE to Rs 429.05 and 2.09% on NSE to Rs 430.05. Vedanta declined 2.07% on both exchanges, trading at Rs 720.35 on BSE and Rs 720.40 on NSE. Welspun Corp dropped 1.46% on BSE to Rs 1,186.25, though its NSE decline was relatively smaller at 1.02% (Rs 1,191.85). Jain Resource Recycling Ltd also fell 1.46% on BSE to Rs 403.85 and 1.40% on NSE to Rs 404.00.

Hindalco slipped 1.19% on BSE to Rs 1,029.00 and 1.20% on NSE to Rs 1,028.90. Jindal Steel & Power was down 1.17% on BSE at Rs 1,238.60 and 1.24% on NSE at Rs 1,238.90. Maithan Alloys declined 1.26% on BSE to Rs 997.90 and 1.55% on NSE to Rs 996.90.

Tata Steel fell 0.95% on BSE to Rs 208.95 and 0.93% on NSE to Rs 208.94. JSW Steel was down 0.66% on BSE at Rs 1,248.90 and 0.63% on NSE at Rs 1,249.10. MOIL dropped 0.90% on BSE to Rs 319.35 and 0.81% on NSE to Rs 319.30. APL Apollo Tubes declined 0.75% on BSE to Rs 2,007.25 and 0.76% on NSE to Rs 2,007.50. NMDC fell a marginal 0.47% on BSE to Rs 86.92 and 0.41% on NSE to Rs 86.95.

Stocks in the Green

Only three stocks in the metal space were trading with gains as of the same time.

Coal India was the top gainer, up 1.30% on BSE to Rs 456.45 and 1.28% on NSE to Rs 456.40. Hindustan Zinc gained 0.84% on BSE to Rs 597.00 and 0.82% on NSE to Rs 596.95. SAIL was trading marginally higher, up 0.17% on BSE at Rs 176.75 and 0.15% on NSE at Rs 176.72.
