Indian information technology stocks witnessed broad-based selling pressure in early trade today, with the S&P BSE IT Index declining 3.21% to 28,209.77 as of 10:10 AM IST. The broader S&P BSE Sensex fell 0.91% to 76,958.49 in the same period.
Large-Cap IT Stocks Bear the Brunt
Among the heaviest decliners, LTIMindtree dropped 4.73% on BSE to ₹4,306.30, making it the worst performer among large-cap IT names. Infosys fell 4.30% to ₹1,189.20, while HCL Technologies declined 4.17% to ₹1,223.90. Cyient slipped 4.36% to ₹895.05.
TCS (Tata Consultancy Services), India’s largest IT company by market capitalisation, fell 2.47% to ₹2,460.30 on BSE. Tech Mahindra dropped 2.95% to ₹1,378.50, and Wipro declined 2.00% to ₹198.90.
Mid-Cap IT Stocks Also Under Pressure
The selling was not limited to large-caps. Coforge fell 3.47% to ₹1,178.05, Mphasis dropped 3.29% to ₹2,202.20, and Cigniti Technologies declined 2.62% to ₹1,166.50. Persistent Systems shed 1.89% to ₹4,960.35, while Birlasoft fell 2.08% to ₹376.70.
KPIT Technologies declined 2.10% to ₹718.00, and Firstsource Solutions fell 2.47% to ₹219.45. Sasken Technologies lost 2.20% to ₹1,254.00, and Sonata Software slipped 2.04% to ₹259.15.
Smaller IT Names Follow Suit
Smaller IT and tech stocks largely mirrored the broader trend. R System International dropped 2.52% to ₹273.05, Aurionpro Solutions fell 2.83% to ₹838.05, and Tanla Platforms declined 1.83% to ₹491.50. Happiest Minds Technologies shed 1.71% to ₹367.70, and Mastek fell 1.78% to ₹1,719.45.
Route Mobile declined 1.57% to ₹505.45, Newgen Software dropped 1.54% to ₹470.35, and Ramco Systems fell 1.89% to ₹418.25. Zensar Technologies lost 1.13% to ₹559.55.
A Few Exceptions
Not all IT stocks were in the red. 63 Moons Technologies bucked the trend, rising 1.92% to ₹707.60 on BSE. Oracle Financial Services edged up 0.14% to ₹8,805.75, and Mindtree gained a marginal 0.09% to ₹3,433.35.
Sector Context
The fall in IT stocks reflects sector-wide pressure across both BSE and NSE exchanges in morning trade. Data captured between 10:10 AM and 10:15 AM IST shows consistent declines across the majority of BSE IT Index constituents.
