Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced its entry into the industrial electronics segment, marking a strategic expansion into a high-growth, technology-driven domain.

The company has commenced industrial electronics manufacturing at its Coimbatore campus in Tamil Nadu, signalling the launch of its new business vertical, L&T Electronic Products & Systems (LTEPS). The vertical will be headquartered in Bengaluru, with manufacturing operations based in Coimbatore.

As part of the initial rollout, L&T has commissioned two manufacturing lines that will cater to both Indian and global clients, offering industrial electronics manufacturing services.

Commenting on the development, S N Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of L&T, said the move aligns with the company’s Lakshya 2031 vision of strengthening technology leadership and enhancing India’s self-reliance in critical manufacturing sectors. He added that LTEPS will help bolster the country’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem while expanding L&T’s presence in innovation-led domains.

Building on its expertise in strategic electronics, L&T said the new vertical will focus on the development and manufacturing of industrial electronic products and systems across key areas including power electronics, mobility, industrial robotics and automation, communication platforms, and electronics systems design and manufacturing (ESDM).

The company plans to adopt a blended approach involving in-house research and development, technology partnerships, and advanced testing infrastructure to deliver market-ready solutions.

Looking ahead, L&T intends to expand the LTEPS footprint significantly. The company has outlined plans to develop a 40-acre zone within its Coimbatore campus to cover the entire industrial electronics value chain, including R&D, product development, contract manufacturing, sourcing, testing, validation, and engineering services.

The entry into industrial electronics is seen as a strategic step for L&T as it seeks to tap into emerging opportunities in electronics manufacturing while supporting India’s broader push for self-reliance in advanced technology sectors.
