Atul Auto, a prominent player in India’s three-wheeler manufacturing sector, has announced a strategic partnership with Bengaluru-based Exponent Energy to launch rapid charging electric 3-wheelers. The collaboration aims to deploy a minimum of 15,000 Exponent-powered passenger vehicles over the next three years. This initiative marks a significant advancement in the rapid charging electric vehicle segment, combining Atul Auto‘s manufacturing expertise with Exponent Energy’s cutting-edge technology.
The partnership will see Atul Auto’s vehicles integrated with Exponent Energy’s OTO three-wheeler mobility platform. This platform, known for its best-in-class battery technology and powertrain systems, will now be extended to OEM-integrated new vehicles. The system is designed to work seamlessly with both Exponent’s own 15-minute rapid charging network and standard public and home charging infrastructure, providing drivers with flexibility in charging options.
Exponent Energy’s proprietary technology facilitates a 15-minute rapid charge, the fastest globally for commercial vehicles, while ensuring consistent performance under rigorous daily operations. The system is backed by a 2 Lakh km warranty, addressing concerns regarding battery life and resale value in commercial EV deployments.
For Atul Auto customers, this translates into enhanced operational efficiency with faster turnaround times, higher vehicle availability, and reduced operating costs compared to traditional electric three-wheelers.
Exponent Energy has also introduced Exponent One, an EV financing platform led by Sandeep Divakaran, to support financing for this variant. The platform offers embedded insurance and structured buyback options, aimed at reducing ownership barriers and improving affordability.
Arun Vinayak, CEO and Founder of Exponent Energy, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “With Atul Auto, we are bringing rapid charging, financing access, and proven vehicle platform technology together at scale. Our mission is to make electric the better choice, which means addressing the real barriers to adoption.”
Neeraj Chandra, Managing Director of Atul Auto, commented, “Atul Auto has built a strong legacy of delivering reliable and high-quality three-wheelers to customers across India. This partnership with Exponent Energy allows us to bring cutting-edge rapid charging technology to our portfolio, enabling a significantly enhanced value proposition for our customers while accelerating our transition towards electric mobility.”
Together, Atul Auto and Exponent Energy aim to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in one of India’s fastest-growing commercial vehicle segments by combining trusted manufacturing scale with innovative charging technology.
