Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has stated that Tehran currently has no plans for a second round of negotiations with the United States, amid growing tensions and accusations of ceasefire violations.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Baghaei made it clear: “As I am speaking to you now, we have no plan for the next round of negotiations.” His remarks come as uncertainty surrounds future diplomatic efforts between Iran and Washington, following indirect talks reportedly mediated through Pakistan.

Iran Accuses US of Lacking Seriousness in Diplomacy

Baghaei criticized the United States for what he described as a lack of commitment to diplomatic solutions. He pointed to repeated violations of the ceasefire, including actions in Lebanon and efforts to impose a naval blockade on Iranian ports and coastlines.

“The United States, through contradictory behavior and continuous violations of the ceasefire, has shown it is not serious about pursuing diplomacy,” Baghaei said.

He specifically highlighted recent US actions, such as what Iran called an attack on an Iranian commercial vessel, labeling it a “clear act of aggression” under United Nations resolutions.

“This clear contradiction between words and actions increases the Iranian people’s distrust of US intentions,” the spokesperson added.

Iran to Decide on Talks Based on National Interests

Baghaei emphasized that Iran will evaluate any future negotiations strictly based on its national interests. He noted that Washington’s inconsistent approach has eroded trust, making progress difficult.

The comments reflect ongoing friction in the fragile post-ceasefire environment, which includes disputes over maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions, and regional issues involving Lebanon.

Background on Iran-US Tensions

The latest statements follow indirect diplomatic exchanges between the two sides. While some reports suggested possible follow-up talks in Pakistan, Iranian officials have pushed back, stressing that no date, time, or location has been set for the next round.
