The benchmark indices traded in the red on April 16, with the Nifty 50 slipping 0.14% to close at 24,196.75, while the Sensex declined 0.16% to 77,988.68. Despite the broader weakness, several stocks in the Nifty 50 index posted gains during the session.
Adani Enterprises emerged as the top gainer, rising 3.1% to close at ₹2,210. Hindalco Industries followed with a 2.9% gain, ending at ₹1,040.3. Trent also saw upward movement, gaining 2.8% to close at ₹4,088.4.
Eternal advanced 2.5% to ₹252.9, while Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone climbed 2.2% to ₹1,545. Bharat Electronics registered a 2.0% increase, closing at ₹456.7.
Among other gainers, Larsen & Toubro rose 1.0% to ₹4,117, and Tata Steel also gained 1.0% to settle at ₹210.7. Infosys moved up 0.8% to ₹1,316, while Tata Consultancy Services ended 0.7% higher at ₹2,573.
