Iran’s State Television reported that six railway facilities targeted in recent strikes have been fully rebuilt and restored to operation, highlighting the country’s rapid infrastructure recovery efforts following the damage sustained last week.

Quick Restoration of Damaged Rail Infrastructure

Iranian authorities and engineers worked around the clock to repair multiple railway bridges, tracks, and related facilities hit during the US-Israeli strikes in early April 2026. Key sites included:

  • The Yahya Abad railway bridge in Kashan (Isfahan Province)
  • Sections of the Tehran-Mashhad line near Qaleh Now
  • Bridges on the Zanjan-Mianeh and Karaj routes
  • Additional infrastructure near Qom, Chaharbagh (Alborz Province), and other critical corridors

According to reports, several bridges were reconstructed in as little as 40 hours to 72 hours, with some sections reopened within days of the ceasefire.

Passenger and freight train services have largely resumed on major routes, including:

  • Tehran-Tabriz-Van (extending to Turkey)
  • Tehran-Mashhad
  • Lines connecting to Isfahan, Bandar Abbas, Zahedan, Kerman, and Yazd

The Zanjan-Tabriz line saw temporary disruptions, but repairs are progressing steadily, allowing most of the national rail network to return to normal operations.
