Izmo Limited’s semiconductor packaging subsidiary, izmomicro (Izmo Microsystems Pvt. Ltd.), has announced its strategic entry into India’s rapidly expanding defence electronics sector. The company is now engaging with leading defence organisations across the country, including government research establishments, defence public sector undertakings and private defence manufacturers, to provide advanced semiconductor packaging solutions for mission-critical electronics programs.

The move places izmomicro in a key position within India’s defence modernisation ecosystem, where demand for high-performance electronics and indigenous technology capabilities is accelerating.

Izmomicro’s advanced packaging technologies are designed to support critical electronics used in radar and sensing systems, high-frequency RF and microwave assemblies for electronic warfare and communications, airborne electronics for fighter aircraft and unmanned platforms, and precision guidance systems used in India’s guided munitions programs. These applications represent some of the most technologically complex and high-value segments of the defence electronics supply chain.

India’s defence budget has reached a record ₹7.85 lakh crore for FY2026–27, significantly boosting opportunities for domestic defence manufacturing companies. A major policy shift now mandates that around 75% of capital acquisition spending be sourced from Indian companies, effectively reducing reliance on imports and redirecting large procurement volumes into the domestic defence ecosystem.

The government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative further strengthens this trend through the implementation of Positive Indigenization Lists, which restrict the import of hundreds of defence items that can be produced locally. These policies also require foreign original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to partner with Indian companies to access the country’s defence market, creating long-term opportunities for domestic technology providers.

Semiconductors have also been identified by the Government of India as a strategic national priority. Under the India Semiconductor Mission, the government has allocated ₹76,000 crore to build a domestic semiconductor ecosystem. So far, 10 semiconductor projects with a combined investment of nearly ₹1.60 lakh crore have been approved across six states, covering semiconductor fabrication, advanced packaging, assembly and testing facilities.
