American drama BMF is one of the most eagerly awaited crime dramas on American television. With its gripping depiction of the rise of the Black Mafia Family via the ambitious rise of the Flenory brothers, BMF is a show full of raw street hustle, family loyalty, and ultra-high stakes from the crime drama genre that continues to keep audiences captivated.

Fans hoped that BMF Season 5 would resolve the various tensions left over from the intense cliffhanger of Season 4, which had previously aired in 2025. Starz has concluded the primary chapter of this real-life saga, which was executive-produced by 50 Cent.

Will BMF Return for Season 5 as Starz Cancels Crime Drama

BMF is not returning for Season 5. Starz officially cancelled the crime drama after four seasons in October 2025.

Inspired by the real-life Black Mafia Family and executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, the series wrapped its fourth and final season on August 15, 2025, with the episode Dreams Deferred. Season 4 premiered on June 6, 2025, and ran for 10 episodes.

Here are some details on cancellation

Deadline, Variety, TVLine and several other sources confirmed that the show was cancelled on or around October 29, 2025.

Before the final episode, speculation surrounded a possible renewal for the series. Showrunner Heather Zuhlke stated in August 2025 that she could not wait to get a call regarding her and Randy Huggins’ long-term vision for the series.

Starz held off on green-lighting a season five for a variety of reasons. First, Starz had experienced a significant rise in production costs, which included rising cumulative salaries for talent. Secondly, Starz is undergoing a strategic realignment as part of a complete overhaul of the company’s operations.

Season 4 ended on a cliffhanger, with Big Meech (Demetrius Flenory Jr.) arrested, and Terry (Da’Vinchi) shot. However, given the show’s real-life source material, much of the remaining story is already well documented, with the network reportedly viewing additional seasons as unnecessary.

Spin-Offs and the Future of the BMF Universe

The main show’s series has wrapped up, and there are still multiple other projects in production as spinoffs, like BMF Immortal (internally at least). So far, there has not been an announcement of any titles, plots, castings, or release dates for the spinoffs.

Jackson has previously expanded the Power franchise through different avenues, which could lead to future explorations of the BMF universe in new ways.

Currently, BMF’s four seasons are now viewable on Starz; no plans for reviving the show or renewals past season 5 have been mentioned since it was cancelled.
