NTPC has informed exchanges that the consortium of NTPC and Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO) has completed the acquisition of Sinnar Thermal Power Limited on February 24, 2026.
As per the company’s filing dated February 25, 2026 , the acquisition has been completed under the NCLT-approved resolution plan as part of the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.
Sinnar Thermal Power Limited owns a coal-based thermal power plant of 5×270 MW (1,350 MW) capacity located at Sinnar in Nashik, Maharashtra.
With the completion of this transaction, the total installed capacity of the NTPC group has increased to 88,132 MW, while its commercial capacity now stands at 87,052 MW, according to the disclosure.
The company stated that the update is being made in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
