Indian equity benchmarks ended the February 2 session on a strong note despite volatility, with the Nifty 50 closing above the 25,000 mark. The Sensex surged 943.52 points, or 1.17%, to settle at 81,666.46, while the Nifty added 262.95 points, or 1.06%, to close at 25,088.40. However, a few heavyweight stocks ended the day in negative territory, emerging as the top losers on the benchmark index.

Shriram Finance recorded the highest decline among Nifty 50 stocks, closing down 3.6% at ₹962.10. Axis Bank ended the session 2.2% lower at ₹1,311.50. Shares of Max Healthcare Institute closed down 1.9% at ₹958.10.

IT stock Infosys declined 1.5%, settling at ₹1,629.40. Cipla closed 1.3% lower at ₹1,311.60, while Titan Company ended the day down 0.8% at ₹3,953.20. Tata Consultancy Services finished 0.5% lower at ₹3,169.60.

Retail stock Trent closed down 0.2% at ₹3,720.90. Apollo Hospitals Enterprise declined 0.2%, ending at ₹6,933.50. Energy major Oil and Natural Gas Corporation closed marginally lower by 0.1% at ₹254.00.
