Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, on Tuesday, hinted that his upcoming film “Mumbai Saga” will have a theatrical release, saying that the film had been made for a big-screen experience. In the past few months, many  A-listers led movies including Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurana starrer ‘Gulabo Sitabo’, Vidya Balan starrer ‘Shakuntala Devi’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Laxmii’ were released on digital platforms due to the uncertainty of re-opening of theatres amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Mumbai Saga was initially supposed to be bowed out in June but due to the theatres being shut down because of the nationwide lockdown, there were reports that the makers were considering digital release.

In his recent Twitter post, Gupta stated that the film was in the midst of the post-production and was best suited for a theatrical release.

The film revolves around all that went into transforming Bombay into Mumbai during the 1980s-90s. It stars John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Amol Gupte, Prateik Babbar, Gulshan Grover and Rohit Roy.
