The Multi Commodity Exchange has announced a special live trading session on Sunday, February 1, 2026, on account of the presentation of the Union Budget 2026–27. The exchange issued a circular on January 16, 2026, detailing the market timings applicable for the day.
As per the circular, the special pre-opening session will be held from 08:45 am to 08:59 am. This will be followed by the regular trading session from 09:00 am to 05:00 pm, during which all eligible commodity contracts will be available for trading.
In addition, the client code modification window will remain open from 09:00 am to 05:15 pm on February 1, 2026. Market participants and clearing members have been advised to take note of these timings and inform clients accordingly.
The Sunday trading session was scheduled as part of Budget Day arrangements, making it a rare instance of live commodity market activity on a weekend. Traders were advised to plan positions carefully, especially in view of margin norms and settlement-related restrictions applicable for the day.
