Ashok Leyland on Wednesday announced the reintroduction of its iconic heavy-duty truck brands TAURUS and HIPPO, reviving two nameplates long associated with ruggedness and reliability in India’s commercial vehicle industry.
The all-new TAURUS represents the company’s high-horsepower tipper range, while HIPPO anchors its tractor portfolio. Re-engineered on Ashok Leyland’s AVTR modular truck platform, the new range is designed to deliver higher productivity, improved uptime, superior fuel efficiency, and enhanced driver comfort.
The vehicles were unveiled by Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director & CEO, Ashok Leyland, in the presence of Sanjeev Kumar, President – MHCV, and Madhavi Deshmukh, National Sales Head, along with customers, dealers, and media representatives.
Commenting on the launch, Agarwal said, “TAURUS and HIPPO are purpose-built for heavy-duty requirements of mining, infrastructure, and construction applications. The new truck range is powered by Ashok Leyland’s A-Series 6-cylinder engines, now with industry-leading peak torque and power, delivering unmatched durability and reliability, higher productivity and faster turnaround times.”
Bookings and deliveries for both models are now open across Ashok Leyland dealerships nationwide.
