Oscar 2026 Acting Categories Spotlight Established and Emerging Talent

The acting nominations for the 2026 Oscars reflect a wide range of performances across genres and storytelling styles.

In the Best Actress category, the nominees include Jessie Buckley, Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, Renate Reinsve, and Emma Stone.

The Best Actor race features Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, Michael B. Jordan, and Wagner Moura, highlighting performances that anchored some of the year’s most talked-about films.

 Best Supporting Actress nominees include Elle Fanning, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Amy Madigan, Wunmi Mosaku, and Teyana Taylor.

In the Best Supporting Actor category, the Academy recognized Benicio Del Toro, Jacob Elordi, Delhi Lindo, Sean Penn, and Stellan Skarsgård. These nominations underscore the importance of ensemble performances and character-driven storytelling in this year’s films.

Oscar 2026 Film, Music, and Technical Nominations Reveal Strong Creative Range

Best Picture nominees include Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sinners, and Train Dreams. In directing, the Academy nominated Chloé Zhao, Josh Safdie, Paul Thomas Anderson, Joachim Trier, and Ryna Coogler.

The writing categories recognize originality and adaptation, with Sinners earning nominations in both Best Original Screenplay and other major fields, while Bugonia, Frankenstein, Hamnet, One Battle After Another, and Train Dreams appear across screenplay categories. Technical achievements were also highlighted, with Frankenstein receiving nominations in makeup and hairstyling, production design, cinematography, sound, and original score.

Best Original Song nominees include “Dear Me,” “Golden,” “I Lied to You,” “Sweet Dreams of Joy,” and “Train Dreams.” The Best International Feature category includes The Secret Agent, It Was Just an Accident, Sentimental Value, Sirât, and The Voice of Hind Rajab.
