Uber on Wednesday announced a major expansion of its premium mobility service, Uber Black, with plans to double its fleet size across India by 2026. The move underlines Uber’s growing focus on high-end, comfort-driven ride experiences amid rising demand for premium mobility options.
Currently operating in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, Uber Black offers high-quality vehicles paired with top-rated drivers, catering to riders seeking refined service, superior comfort, and reliability. Positioned as the “business class of back seats,” the service targets professionals, frequent travellers, and users prioritising a premium commute.
As part of the expansion, Uber Black is also available through dedicated Uber Black Zones at major airports. These premium pickup areas are operational at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (Terminals 1 and 2) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai (Terminal 2, P6), enabling faster and more seamless access to luxury vehicles.
To strengthen premium supply, Uber announced a Series A investment in Carrum, a fleet management company backed by the CarDekho Group. Carrum has been a long-standing fleet partner for Uber, consistently providing high-quality vehicles and dependable service. The investment is expected to help Carrum scale operations and expand its fleet.
Uber has also introduced the Reserve feature for Uber Black in Delhi, allowing riders to pre-book premium rides from as early as two hours to up to 90 days in advance, offering greater certainty for planned travel.
Commenting on the expansion, Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia, said the company is seeing strong demand from riders who value comfort and elevated service standards.
Uber also highlighted strong adoption of Uber One in India, its membership programme offering benefits across bikes, autos, and cars. Over one million riders in India are currently subscribed to Uber One.
Uber entered India in 2013 and today operates across 125 cities, supporting over 1.5 million drivers nationwide.
